Driving and Forklift Trucks (FLTs) medicals

HSE recommends the Drivers Medical Unit of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) as a standard for fitness to drive.

Asante OHS offers driving medicals in line with DVLA standards, and HSE recommends assessment at the start of employment and at intervals of 5 years from age 45 and annually from age 65. Asante OHS works with employers’ policies and procedures to meet legal requirements.

Driving medical involves completing questionnaires, vision tests and physical examinations. Specific tests will depend on the individual.
