Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations

Asbestos medical assessment is a mandatory requirement for workers who handle asbestos. Licensed asbestos medical assessments are for workers who are licensed by law to handle asbestos. Non-licensed asbestos medical assessments are for workers who may come across asbestos unexpectedly in their roles. Asante OHS is registered for licensed asbestos medicals. We offer both licensed and non-licensed asbestos medicals.

Asbestos medical assessment involves completing questionnaires, lung function test (spirometry), physical examinations and, where relevant, a chest X-ray. This is done at the start of the role and at intervals for as long as one is still exposed. The employer is required by law to keep records of outcome for 40 years.
